ARTIST STATEMENT
My work critiques the obscuring and softening of historical narratives, examining how internal states and lived experience take form through two-dimensional media. Through abstraction, I create visual ambiguity where meaning is never fully revealed, echoing the ways histories are distorted or erased. Bright, saturated colors and engulfing shapes act as a kind of sugarcoating, drawing viewers in while masking the weight and complexity beneath the surface.
Each piece functions as a mirror, layered with depth and hidden symbolism, pulling viewers into a space of uncertainty and reflection. Within this space, clarity remains just out of reach, prompting a confrontation with how easily beauty and visual allure can distract from, or even conceal, difficult truths about the past.
